An outbreak of intestinal infection was recorded in a Lviv kindergarten, with eight people hospitalized. The diagnosis of salmonellosis was laboratory-confirmed in two patients.

An outbreak of a dangerous infection has been recorded in one of the city's kindergartens in Lviv. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, according to UNN.

It is noted that as of May 7, 8 cases of the disease have been registered: the patients have been hospitalized in an infectious diseases hospital.

Patients exhibit characteristic symptoms of an acute intestinal infection: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, general weakness, abdominal pain, and fever

According to doctors, the patients' condition is of moderate severity. Salmonellosis has been laboratory-confirmed in 2 cases.

It is indicated that the Center's specialists are conducting a complex of anti-epidemic measures:

  • epidemiological investigation
    • interviews with patients, parents, and contact persons
      • testing of food products, drinking water, and swabs from objects where the outbreak was noted
        • laboratory testing of biological material from patients

          "The source of infection and transmission factors are currently being established. The investigation is ongoing," the Center added.
