Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the number of proceedings for non-payment of alimony in Ukraine has increased to 190,000. 91% of the debtors are men, with the highest number of non-payments in Dnipropetrovska oblast.

As of August 2024, the number of alimony proceedings in Ukraine has increased to almost 190,000, which is 14% more than since the beginning of the full-scale war, with 91% of debtors being men and the highest number of non-payments recorded in the Dnipropetrovska oblast.

As of the beginning of August 2024, the Unified Register of Debtors recorded almost 190 thousand proceedings for non-payment of alimony, which is 14% more than at the beginning of the full-scale war. Since the beginning of 2024, the number of such proceedings has increased by 2,800. Most debtors are men, accounting for 91% of cases. In total, there are 187,246 proceedings for non-payment of alimony in Ukraine, and 23,376 new cases have been added to the register since the beginning of the war. The age group of 25-45 years is the largest among debtors, covering 71.7% of all cases.

Dnipropetrovs'k region is the leader in terms of the number of proceedings, which amounts to 20,303 or 11% of the total. Despite the decrease in the number of new proceedings in the region, it is here that the largest number of debts has been recorded, although only 313 new cases have been opened since the beginning of the year. Kharkiv region ranks second with 11,139 proceedings, which is 6% of the total. It is worth noting that since 2021, the number of non-payment of alimony in the region has decreased by 44%.

Frontline regions such as Donetsk, Kherson, and Luhansk oblasts have shown a significant reduction in child support arrears compared to 2021 - by 79%, 92%, and 95%, respectively. Zaporizhzhia region ranks third with 9,343 proceedings, which is 5% of the total, although it also saw a 34% decrease compared to 2021.

Some regions, such as Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions, on the contrary, showed an increase in the number of child support arrears by 15% and 6%, respectively. It is noteworthy that in 32.9 thousand proceedings, the debtor's region is not specified.

Since January 2024, the minimum guaranteed amount of child support in Ukraine has increased to UAH 1281.5 for children under 6 years of age and UAH 1598 for children aged 6 to 18 years due to the increase in the subsistence level.
