Occupants block IAEA visit to thermal power plant near Zaporizhzhia NPP
Kyiv • UNN
The Russian occupiers did not allow the IAEA team to inspect the thermal power plant, which is crucial for backup power to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, increasing the risk of power outages.
Russian occupants refused to allow the IAEA team to visit one of the thermal power plants located near the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the Ministry of Energy reports, UNN writes.
Details
"The Russian occupiers once again refused to allow the IAEA to visit the thermal power plant near ZNPP. Access to the nearby thermal power plant is necessary to assess external power lines that provide backup power to ZNPP. In the event of a power outage on these lines, the risk of blackout at Zaporizhzhia NPP doubles," the Ministry of Energy said.
However, the IAEA team was promised that in the coming days they would be able to access the roof of the reactor.
Recall
In early December, Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) experienced its eighth complete disconnection from external power supply.
