Due to the heatwave, electricity consumption decreased by 6.9%. No outage schedules are planned, but a power line to ZNPP has been damaged. Power engineers are waiting for permission to repair it.

Electricity consumption has decreased due to the drop in temperature. There are no scheduled blackouts. Yesterday there was emergency aid, today import from 5 countries is planned. As of this morning, 531 settlements are without power. Power engineers are waiting for permission to repair the damage caused by Russian shelling to the power line supplying ZNPP. This was reported on Friday by NPC Ukrenergo and the Ministry of Energy, UNN reports.

Consequences of Russian attacks

"Yesterday, on August 22, Russian shelling damaged one of the power lines supplying Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. As a result, the reliability of power supply to ZNPP has been reduced. Power engineers are waiting for the military's permission to carry out repair work," Ukrenergo said.

Also, according to the Ministry of Energy:

Southern region: as a result of shelling, equipment at the substation was turned off. Residential consumers were without power. The power supply has been restored.

Southeastern region: overhead lines were disconnected due to the hostilities, which led to a decrease in voltage at the RES facility. Consumers did not lose power.

Consumption

"Due to lower temperatures in the western, northern and central regions, consumption has decreased. Today, August 23, as of 9:30 am, it is 6.9% lower than the previous day. So, please use electricity sparingly during the period of maximum consumption - from 20:00 to 22:00," the NPC said.

Yesterday, August 22, the maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 3.8% lower than on Wednesday, August 21.

"No consumption restrictions are expected today," Ukrenergo said.

Emergency assistance

Yesterday, on August 22, at the request of NPC Ukrenergo, Ukraine attracted emergency assistance from the Slovak power system.

Import and export

Imports - throughout the day from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova. The total volume is 19,010 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,581 MW in some hours. Exports are not carried out and are not planned.

Power outages

According to Ukrenergo, 531 settlements are fully or partially cut off from electricity due to the fighting and other reasons. Due to the hostilities, there are power outages in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovs'k, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions. Consumers in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovs'k regions were cut off from electricity supply due to technical reasons.

Situation at ZNPP

"The water level in the cooling pond is 14.61 meters. This is enough to meet the needs of the plant," the Ministry of Energy said.
