NATO will significantly expand the drone operator training program within the NATO Flight Training Europe project. By 2027, the Alliance plans to increase the number of trained specialists fivefold. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, reports UNN.

Details

According to Rutte, the expansion of the program was a response to the growing role of unmanned systems in modern warfare and the need to train more qualified operators.

Drones have fundamentally changed the nature of modern warfare and become a decisive factor on the battlefield. This is confirmed by the fighting in Ukraine, in the Middle East, as well as cases of drone incursions into the territory of NATO member countries

- emphasized the Alliance Secretary General.

Finland, France, and Sweden have already joined the NATO Flight Training Europe program, increasing the number of its participants to 20 states. Operator training will be conducted at training centers located in eight NATO member countries.
