The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has initiated changes in the system of providing military personnel with medical treatment and rehabilitation.

A resolution adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers improved the mechanism for providing improved nutrition to military personnel in healthcare facilities of all forms of ownership.

Resolution allows us to provide our defenders with food in accordance with the standards of NATO military medical institutions, even in civilian hospitals.

"Every defender who risks his or her life for our freedom deserves the best conditions for recovery. We not only provide our military with the necessary care, but also work to ensure that each of them feels supported and respected. This initiative is our response to their dedication and courage," said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Brigadier General Serhiy Melnyk.

According to the new regulations, meals in civilian hospitals for military personnel will be provided according to a specially designed ration, which, in particular, defines the list of foods, their quantity and weight required for one serviceman per day, taking into account the specific needs of the body during recovery.

"The new norms provide the nutrition necessary for rapid recovery. For example, they take into account the increased need for proteins, vitamins and calories needed to treat injuries or illnesses.

The cost of such meals is calculated on the basis of a special Product Catalog approved by the Ministry of Defense. This Catalog contains current prices for products, and they are taken into account when determining the cost of meals per bed-day in medical institutions," explains Serhiy Melnyk.

According to him, this ensures that each soldier receives the proper ration for a quick recovery.

The agency added that the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution also provides for a clear mechanism for compensating civilian medical institutions, which will help maintain high standards of service.

The new funding mechanism provides for the conclusion of a standard contract that will ensure transparent reimbursement for the costs of improved nutrition. Thus, civilian medical institutions will receive adequate funding, and military personnel will receive quality treatment and rehabilitation.
