Mass fish die-off: samples and specimens have been collected in the Kyiv region for testing, and the delivery of drinking water has been arranged

Experts collected water and fish samples for testing and organized the collection of dead fish. The cause was a wastewater leak into the bodies of water of the Borshchahivska community, which has already been eliminated.
In the Kyiv region, where a mass fish die-off occurred, specialists collected water samples and fish specimens for laboratory testing; the collection and subsequent disposal of the dead fish were also organized. In addition, the potential source of the leak was eliminated. This was reported by Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, according to UNN.

According to Tkachenko, commissions from the State Environmental Inspectorate and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection collected water samples and fish specimens for laboratory testing. The collection and subsequent disposal of the dead fish were also organized.
It was established that, during the elimination of a rupture in the sewer collector, wastewater was pumped into Kyiv’s stormwater drainage network, which flows into the water bodies of the Borshchahivka community. The relevant work was documented by the police. It has now been stopped, and the potential source of the leak has been eliminated
According to him, the delivery of drinking water has been organized at the sites. Due to the risk of further spread of the contamination downstream, the issue will also be considered at a meeting of the commission on technological and environmental safety and emergencies of the Bucha District State Administration.
The final cause of the fish deaths will be established after the laboratory test results are received.
