A group of people imported 46 cars under the guise of humanitarian aid through charitable organizations. Ukraine's budget lost more than UAH 5.3 million in taxes and customs payments.

A group of people who illegally imported cars under the guise of humanitarian aid was exposed in the Lviv region. This was reported by the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine, UNN reports.

Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES) in Lviv region exposed a scheme of illegal import of cars into Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian aid.

As it became known, a group of people used charitable organizations to import vehicles into the customs territory of Ukraine. In particular, between 2022 and 2023, 46 cars were imported in this way. Some of these cars were then sold through online platforms designed to sell used vehicles.

As a result of these actions, the budget of Ukraine did not receive more than UAH 5.3 million in taxes and customs duties.

As part of the pre-trial investigation, the BES detectives conducted searches at the residences of the suspects, during which they seized documents, cars, funds and computer equipment confirming the commission of a criminal offense.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
