BES detectives found EUR 4.7 million in unaccounted cash from an accountant of a company that supplies products to the Ministry of Defense as part of a criminal investigation into tax evasion.
BES detectives, as part of a criminal investigation into tax evasion, found and seized 4.7 million euros in unaccounted cash in the trunk of an accountant of a company that supplies products to the Ministry of Defense. This was reported by the press service of the Bureau, UNN reports.
As part of a criminal investigation into tax evasion by a group of companies supplying products to the Ministry of Defense, detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Kyiv region found and seized more than EUR 4.7 million in unaccounted cash. The funds were transported by the company's accountant in the trunk of a car
It is noted that the woman could not explain the origin of the money.
Detectives exposed an attempt to smuggle and conceal the "black" cash register during the investigation. The issue of seizure of the seized funds is being decided.
According to the BES, in 2022-2023 alone, the company supplied the Ministry of Defense with food worth UAH 14.5 billion including VAT. (At the same time, its officials documented a number of non-commodity transactions for the purchase and supply of food with controlled companies that had signs of fictitiousness.
In this way, and by substituting the nomenclature and overstating the value of goods, they unreasonably formed the expenses for the VAT tax credit. This made it possible to evade taxes on a particularly large scale. The damage caused to the budget is confirmed by the relevant conclusion of the analytical materials prepared by the BES experts.
The BES detectives conducted searches at the group's premises and at the suspects' residences. Documents and draft accounting records were seized.
Despite the fact that the searches were conducted in compliance with all applicable laws and in no way interfered with the company's legitimate activities, its representatives claimed alleged pressure from the BES, the Bureau noted.
[As a reminder, on July 6, it was reported that detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES) in Kyiv region were conducting searches in the offices of companies that supply food to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. These actions are part of a criminal investigation into tax evasion.
