According to witnesses, the hooded attacker first stabbed an elderly woman in the back and then attacked a pair of teenagers. Some witnesses claim that the attacker was also injured during the arrest. In total, police reported five victims, two in serious condition.
A large number of law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, and a rescue helicopter and several ambulances were also on duty in the square. The rescue helicopter had to land directly near the town hall.
Part of the city was surrounded by police, which caused trams to stop running. In addition, the city council meeting was interrupted.
