Keir Starmer officially becomes the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after an audience with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on Friday, following the Labor Party's landslide victory in the British elections.

The leader of the British Labor Party, Keir Starmer, officially became the Prime Minister of Great Britain after an audience with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on Friday, UNN reports with reference to the BBC.

Details

"Keir Starmer has just officially become prime minister after an audience with the king at Buckingham Palace," the statement reads.

Keir Starmer arrived at the palace in a small convoy of cars. He met with the king to receive an official invitation to form a government.

"Outside, even the rain stopped for a few minutes when he arrived at the palace," the newspaper writes.

Starmer has already been photographed leaving from a meeting with the King. His statement is now scheduled.

"It’s not a long journey next to Downing Street, but it’s taken 14 years for a Labour leader to get there," the publication points out.

Addendum

After voting ended in the British elections, it quickly became clear that Sir Keir Starmer's Labor Party was headed for a landslide victory, with exit polls indicating a significant loss of seats for the Conservatives.

With all but two constituencies now reporting results, Labor has won 412 seats, a result comparable to Tony Blair's triumph in 1997, the newspaper writes.
