International airlines faced severe flight disruptions due to Iranian missile and drone attacks on Israel, leading to the cancellation and re-routing of flights between Europe and Asia.
International airlines have faced flight disruptions after Iran's attempt to strike Israel further reduced the capacity of planes flying between Europe and Asia. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.
Details
It is noted that international airlines have faced flight disruptions after Iran's missile and drone attacks on Israel further narrowed the options for aircraft flying between Europe and Asia.
Over the past two days, at least ten airlines have been forced to cancel or change flight routes, including Lufthansa, Qantas, United Airlines and Air India. Mark Zee, founder of the Opsgroup, an airspace and airport watchdog group, said it was the biggest disruption to air travel since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York.
Since then, we have not had a situation where so many different airspaces were closed so quickly, and this creates chaos.
The latest route problems are a blow to the industry, which has already faced many restrictions due to conflicts between Israel and Hamas, as well as Russia and Ukraine.
Addendum
Iran's airspace is used by airlines flying between Europe and Asia, and these carriers will be limited to two viable alternative routes: either through Turkey or through Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Zi said.
Israel closed its airspace on Saturday, April 13, and then reopened it on the morning of April 14. Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon also resumed flights over their territories after the closure.
The largest airlines in the Middle East, including Emirates Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Etihad Airways, have announced that they will resume operations in the region after canceling or rerouting some flights.
Recall
Iran carried out massive attacks using about 300 drones and missiles against Israel, which Ukraine strongly condemned as absolutely unacceptable, irresponsible actions that risk further escalation in the Middle East.
