In Zakarpattia, a 32-year-old woman was sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property for "renting out" her own young children for begging for 1,000 USD. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to UNN.

The Khust District Prosecutor's Office proved in court that a resident of the village of Ilnytsia agreed to hand over her 11-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter to a third party for their exploitation over a period of two weeks. She planned to receive 500 dollars for each child,

the report says.

The woman was detained on April 8 near Irshava immediately after receiving the funds. She has been in custody since then.

In court, the woman pleaded guilty and repented.

Taking into account all the evidence provided, on June 12, 2024, the woman was found guilty under Part 3 of Art. 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (human trafficking involving minors, committed by a mother for the purpose of exploitation).

The children have been placed under the guardianship of their grandmother and are safe.
