After 93% of the ballots have been counted, Maia Sandu is ahead of Alexandru Stoianoglo with 50.3% to 49.7%. The final results depend on the counting of votes from the diaspora in EU countries.

The second round of the presidential election was held in Moldova. After the counting of votes at polling stations abroad began, Maia Sandu took the lead in terms of total votes. This is stated on the CEC website, UNN reports.

With 93% of the ballots counted, the votes in favor of Maia Sandu outnumbered those for her opponent, Alexandre Stoianoglo. The gap between the candidates is minimal: the incumbent has 50.3%, while Stoianoglo has 49.7%.

Most of the diaspora votes in the EU are still being counted, and the results will be announced later. 

Recall

Prior to this, according to preliminary data from the Moldovan Central Election Commission, oppositionist Alexandru Stoianoglo won 52.03% of the vote in the second round of the presidential election. Incumbent President Maia Sandu received the support of 47.97% of voters.
