Russian military and affiliated analysts have begun complaining about the high accuracy of new American AGM-188A Rusty Dagger cruise missiles, which are likely being used by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, following a series of strikes. This was reported by Defense Express, writes UNN.

Details

According to the publication, new photos of missile fragments found at strike sites on the territory of Russia and occupied Ukrainian territories have appeared online. The markings on the fragments are said to indicate they belong to AGM-188A Rusty Dagger cruise missiles, which were likely used during the attack on the night of July 24.

Defense Express notes that Russian analysts working at the impact sites noted the high accuracy of these missiles. At the same time, information about specific targets hit is currently unavailable.

Range over 930 km and several carrier options

According to the publication, the AGM-188A Rusty Dagger uses a combined guidance system based on inertial navigation and GPS with an 8-element CRPA antenna. The possibility of autonomous visual navigation is also stated, which increases the missile's resistance to electronic warfare measures.

Defense Express recalled that fragments of the AGM-188A Rusty Dagger were first recorded last month after the publication of corresponding photos by the Russian side. F-16 fighters are named as the likely carrier of these cruise missiles, but their integration onto other aircraft capable of using JDAM bombs, including MiG-29 and Su-27, is not ruled out.

According to the publication's assessment, the missile is built in the dimensions of a 500-pound Mk82 bomb, has a mass of about 200 kg, of which approximately 45 kg is the warhead. Despite its compact size, the AGM-188A Rusty Dagger is capable of hitting targets at a distance of over 930 km, and the combination of a turbojet engine and a low-observable design complicates its interception by air defense systems.
