In Poland, surprised by Zelenskyy's announcement about the National Pantheon

After Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's announcement about the creation of the Ukrainian National Pantheon, the Polish government is increasingly convinced that the Ukrainian president is escalating the conflict with Poland. This is reported by Onet, citing sources, as conveyed by UNN.

Details

"We have long known that Zelenskyy wanted to launch the Pantheon, but his words are strange. I admit, this surprised us," said the publication's interlocutor.

Another government source stated that Kyiv's current policy does not encourage Polish companies to do business in Ukraine.

"It is a great pity that Zelenskyy did this. There was hope that we would improve our relations, but it looks like it will get even worse. It is important for us to take care of Polish companies that want to do business in Ukraine, but Kyiv's current policy does not contribute to this," the publication adds.

Addendum

On Sunday, June 28, Constitution Day, the President of Ukraine announced the submission to the Verkhovna Rada of a draft law on the Ukrainian National Pantheon.

"When no one and never will dictate how we should live, how to speak, whom to love, whom to be grateful to, and which heroes to honor," Zelenskyy said.

He added that it is about affirming Ukraine's right to independently determine its own historical memory and honor its heroes.

"The names of all heroes who, in different centuries and eras, fought for Ukraine, inspired Ukraine, will be united and forever inscribed in our history with a capital letter, with great respect and attention from the state - Ukraine, which respects itself, values its own, and defends its own - its right to be Ukrainians," the President noted.

According to the draft law, it is envisaged to create a nationwide memorial site of the Ukrainian people in Kyiv to honor the most outstanding representatives of the Ukrainian nation. The initiative is based on the centuries-old tradition of Ukrainian nation-building and state-building and is aimed at restoring historical justice, preserving national memory, consolidating society around a common history, as well as forming Ukrainian national and civic identity.

The Pantheon may honor the memory of:
