In Lviv Region, a Forestry Head Will Stand Trial for Hitting a 12-Year-Old Girl and Fleeing the Scene

In the Lviv region, an indictment has been sent to court against the head of the Radekhiv forestry department, who is accused of hitting a 12-year-old girl and fleeing the scene of the accident. According to the investigation, after the crash, the official also tried to convince a subordinate to take the blame. This was reported by the press service of the SBI, according to UNN.
SBI employees have completed the pre-trial investigation regarding the head of the Radekhiv forestry department of the "Forests of Ukraine" branch - "Carpathian Forest Office". The indictment has been sent to court
According to the investigation, on December 13, 2023, around 10:00 PM in the village of Yablunivka, Lviv region, while driving a service Renault Duster, he exceeded the speed limit and struck a 12-year-old girl who was crossing the road.
Despite the well-lit section of the road and the opportunity to react in time, the driver did not slow down. After the collision, he did not help the child, did not call for medical assistance, and left the scene.
The investigation also established that he convinced a subordinate to take the blame and provide law enforcement with false information about the circumstances of the accident. Materials regarding the subordinate have been sent to court separately.
As a result of the accident, the child suffered a fractured femur. Experts classified these injuries as being of moderate severity.
The official is charged under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of road safety rules that caused moderate bodily injuries.
The sanction of the article provides for up to 3 years of restriction of liberty with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for the same period.
