By the morning, law enforcement had dispersed the protesters - Chavchavadze Avenue was completely occupied by police forces. A large number of police officers, special forces, robocops, and water cannons were mobilized on the territory.

On the morning of November 19, the Georgian Interior Ministry issued a statement giving the protesters 15 minutes to vacate the roadway where the opposition and citizens had spent the night peacefully.

Among the detainees on Melikishvili Avenue is one of the cameramen of a Georgian television company.

Addendum

The protests began after the official results of the elections, according to which the ruling Georgian Dream party won an absolute majority of seats in parliament. The opposition, however, does not recognize these results, accusing the government of fraud and anti-democratic policies.
