The British regulator fined OnlyFans £1 million for inaccurate information about age restrictions. The platform mistakenly set the age assessment tool threshold for identifying individuals under the age of 20.

The adult content platform OnlyFans has been fined £1 million in the UK for failing to provide accurate information about age restriction measures. The fine was issued by the communications regulator of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This is reported by Politico, according to UNN.

Back in 2023, the platform informed the regulator about setting up an age assessment tool to identify individuals under the age of 23. It later became known that the tool's threshold was mistakenly set to detect individuals under the age of 20. In January 2024, the company informed the regulator about the error – this happened two weeks after the discovery and 16 months after the initial request regarding this issue.
OnlyFans stated that they will maintain the platform's operation to high standards and will not hesitate to resolve this situation.
