separately, the publication Politico reported on the discussion of the issue of frozen Russian assets by EU ambassadors.
EU countries have doused with cold water a plan to use the proceeds from Russian assets frozen since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine to support the reconstruction of the war-torn country. Several ambassadors from 27 EU countries have said that the idea put forward during Spain's presidency of the Council of the EU will not give Ukraine's economy the urgent boost it needs, but instead risks undermining the EU's commitment to support Kiev, Politico reports.
recall
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban recently demanded that no decisions be made at the EU summit in December regarding the start of negotiations with Ukraine on membership and the adoption of budget changes that include 50 billion euros for economic support for Ukraine.
Orban, who has maintained ties with Moscow even though the EU has imposed sanctions on Russia over its war in Ukraine, is at odds with the European Commission.
