Heathrow Airport warned of disruptions due to flooding

Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom—one of the largest and busiest in Europe—warned that access to two terminals is restricted due to flooding caused by a burst pipe on the airport premises. The airport's press service reported this on X, UNN reports.

Details

"Flooding in the central terminal area has led to a prolonged road closure, restricting access to Terminals 2 and 3. Passengers traveling to or from either of these terminals today should not use road transport," the statement said.

The airport recommended that passengers use the Heathrow Express, Elizabeth Line, and Piccadilly Line rail services where possible. Passengers who must travel by car should use the "Park and Ride" service, proceed to Terminals 4 or 5, and from there use the free rail connection or transfer at local railway stations.

"Please allow extra time for your journey. Our teams are working to resolve this situation as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience," the airport added.

Operations at the airport in Catania on the Italian Mediterranean island of Sicily have been suspended again due to the latest eruption of Mount Etna at the height of the holiday season.
