At the second stage, in the medium term, Germany decided to support the Czech initiative and cover the costs of purchasing 180,000 shells, which will be delivered to Kyiv in the second half of this year.
In the long term, in addition to the Czech plan, Germany has laid out a bilateral agreement to supply Ukraine with another 100,000 shells starting around the fourth quarter. Christian Freuding did not specify with which country this agreement was concluded.
Speaking about what Ukraine needs most now to successfully repel Russian aggression, he mentioned "artillery shells, combatants and missiles for modern air defense systems, as well as armored combat vehicles.
