UNN reports with reference to Reuters and Der Standard.

French film star Gérard Depardieu will appear in court on Monday on charges of sexually assaulting two women on the set of the film "Les volets verts" in 2021. Details indicate the manners of the film star, who, according to one of the actresses, behaved in the studio like a "king".

One of the two plaintiffs, a decorator, now 55 years old, reported that Depardieu suddenly shouted during filming in a Parisian palace that he needed a fan due to the heat to start working - sexually.

Allegedly, an hour later, he violently grabbed the decorator, and then pressed her hips against the wall. An assistant director also filed a complaint due to a similar scene.

Depardieu's lawyer, Jeremie Assous, said the case is based on "false accusations" against his client

In total, more than 20 women accuse the star actor of gross violations, including rape.

Some cases have expired. The most serious case will be considered in separate criminal proceedings: a young actress, Charlotte Arnould, accuses Depardieu of raping her at his Parisian villa in 2018.

Recently, the 76-year-old Depardieu, who weighs 130 kilograms, has faced a growing number of accusations of sexual harassment. The actor consistently denies them.

Mobilization against violence against women

The Depardieu trial may become the highest-profile #MeToo case in French courts amid a protest movement against sexual violence.

We remind you that in September 2024, demonstrations were held in France in support of Gisele Pelicot and victims of rape. In 30 cities of France, thousands of women and men took to the streets to express support for a 72-year-old woman who was raped by her husband dozens of times over many years.

In the high-profile French case, Dominique Pelica was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the rape of his ex-wife Gisele Pelica. In addition to Pelica's husband, another 50 men were found guilty of rape and sexual crimes during the trial.

Reminder

Andriy Bilous, who was accused of harassment, is returning to work at the Young Theater. He was previously suspended, and the police launched criminal proceedings under the article "sexual violence."
