A meeting of 30 leaders – prime ministers and presidents of EU countries, as well as representatives of countries that are not members of the EU, took place in Paris. We discussed the situation in Ukraine and what Europe and countries striving for stable and long-term peace can do to promote safe solutions.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that most EU countries managed to reach an agreement on a number of issues regarding Russia and the common European policy. In particular, he emphasized that certain agreements were reached at the summit regarding further cooperation between EU countries.
The cooperation of the countries that met today in Paris will also consist in finding non-standard solutions – methods that will allow to conduct a unified European policy towards Russia, even in the absence of support from Hungary.
"Europe has changed – it has lost all illusions about Russia. It has stopped being naive and has begun to believe in the need to develop personal strength," he added.
Tusk also noted that the issue of border security with the aggressor country was discussed.
The Polish Prime Minister stated that the times when the country had to assure its partners that the border with Belarus and Russia also meant their security are over.
Without exception, everyone provided a unified position regarding Russian aggression and the need to help Ukraine. Full agreement was reached on the sanctions imposed against Russia and the need to maintain the best possible relations with the United States.
