EU envoys have agreed to increase the European Peace Fund by €5 billion in 2024 for military assistance to Ukraine. This is stated in the message of the Belgian presidency, reports UNN.

"EU ambassadors agreed in principle to reform the European Peace Fund to support Ukraine with a budget of 5 billion euros for 2024. The EU remains firmly committed to providing long-term support to Ukraine and ensuring that the country receives the necessary military equipment to defend itself," the statement said.

Earlier , EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell saidthat the European Union could increase funding for the European Peace Fund by 3.5 billion euros, which is used to supply weapons to Ukraine.
