DESS found signs of affiliation of the Pochaiv Lavra with the ROC

The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience found signs of affiliation of the Pochaiv Holy Dormition Lavra with the Russian Orthodox Church, reports UNN.

According to the results of the study, it was established that such signs are present. In particular, it was established that the Pochaiv Holy Dormition Lavra is a structural subdivision of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and is part of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC, which, in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine, is recognized as affiliated with a foreign religious organization whose activities are prohibited in Ukraine

In addition, during the study, it was established that the Statute of the Lavra and the documents regulating its activities certify its belonging to the structure of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC.

It was also established that the Statute of the Russian Orthodox Church provides for the inclusion of the head of the Pochaiv Holy Dormition Lavra in the statutory governing bodies of the ROC.

The relevant Order was issued on the basis of the Law of Ukraine "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations", the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of the Constitutional Order in the Sphere of Activities of Religious Organizations" and the Procedure for Conducting a Study on the Issue of the Presence of Signs of Affiliation, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The decision was made based on the results of a study that lasted from June 24, 2026, in accordance with the requirements of current legislation
