The Security Service of Ukraine detained a 20-year-old FSB agent in Chernihiv region who was spying on the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine detained a "reactivated" FSB agent who was spying on the Defense Forces in Chernihiv region, the SSU press service said on Monday, UNN reported.

Details

Recruited by the FSB during the temporary occupation, the 20-year-old man, who was given the operational nickname "Jester," was in "standby mode" on the border territory of Chernihiv region for more than a year, the SSU said.

In October of this year, the Russian agent, according to the SSU, was contacted by his "curator" - a staff member of the FSB border guard department in Bryansk region - and given an intelligence task.

To fulfill them, the traitor reportedly drove around the region in his own car and filmed the alleged locations of the Defense Forces with his cell phone camera.

"First of all, the defendant tried to establish the exact coordinates of the AFU headquarters involved in the defense of Ukraine's northern borders. He was also interested in the locations of fortifications and places of the largest concentration of personnel and military equipment of Ukrainian defenders," the SSU said.

According to the available data, the invaders needed intelligence to prepare artillery strikes on the border of Ukraine and conduct sabotage attacks.

SSU officers detained a Russian agent while performing a regular mission in the area of a possible location of one of the Defense Forces facilities.

He was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The attacker faces life imprisonment.
