In her new memoir, published last week, Cher recalls the reasons for losing her virginity at the age of 14 and says that she was motivated by a desire for revenge.
According to excerpts from the singer's memoirs, she was in love with a high school student who lived in her neighborhood. The age difference did not bother them when they were alone. However, in the presence of friends who were older than Cher, the boy treated her like a child.
The problematic moment was when Cher and her boyfriend once met his friends in a restaurant. Then the latter mockingly asked the guy if he was going to take “that baby” with him. As a result, he simply “dumped” Cher and went to eat with his friends.
It hurt me so much when he did it, so I had sex with him out of revenge. I didn't want to do it. Otherwise, I would have done it one of the five hundred other times he asked. But I was so angry about being dumped, so I decided that if I didn't lose it, I would lend him my virginity.” When what turned out to be a very overrated experience was over, I asked him: Is that it? Are we done?
“Then I told him to go home and never come back. I wanted him to feel as humiliated as he made me feel. Even though he kept trying to make it up to me, I never spoke to him again,” the singer said.
Cher is currently dating 38-year-old musician Alexander “AE” Edwards.
