Caused 9.8 million hryvnias in budget losses - a scheme for importing metal from Malaysia exposed in Ukraine

The Office of the Prosecutor General and the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine exposed a scheme to evade anti-dumping duties during the import of metal products. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Details

The investigation established that the enterprise submitted forged documents to customs authorities regarding alleged goods from Malaysia. However, it was not possible to confirm the actual country of origin of the products.

According to the investigation, this allowed avoiding the payment of anti-dumping duties and other mandatory customs payments. As a result, the state budget of Ukraine suffered losses of over 9.8 million hryvnias.

The materials of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine were taken into account by the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade. Subsequently, anti-dumping measures were extended not only to the import of relevant products from the People's Republic of China but also from Malaysia. These measures also apply to cases where there are no proper documents of origin for the goods.

The pre-trial investigation allowed not only to expose the scheme of evasion of customs payments but also to eliminate the mechanism of its use in the future and strengthen the protection of the interests of Ukrainian commodity producers.
