Budanov comments on how Ukraine shoots down Russian strategic aircraft

Ukraine has successfully destroyed a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber with X-22 cruise missiles and the missiles themselves, as well as a Russian A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft, using various systems, including modernized components made from old parts.
Commenting on how Ukraine destroys Russian strategic aircraft, the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov noted that different systems are used. He told about this in the project "Brave Hearts," UNN reports.
A landmark day for the state: as a result of a successful operation by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine in cooperation with the Air Force, for the first time since the full-scale invasion, a Tu-22M3 long-range strategic bomber carrying X-22 cruise missiles was destroyed, as well as the missiles themselves.

For example, on February 23, 2024, also thanks to a joint mission of the DIU and the SAR, a Russian A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft was destroyed.

As a result of the operation, the DIU in cooperation with the Air Force destroyed a Tu-22MZ bomber that was firing missiles at Ukraine today. The enemy aircraft was shot down at a distance of about 300 kilometers from Ukraine using the same means that had previously destroyed the Russian A-50.
AFU Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk saidthat for the first time, anti-aircraft missile units of the AFU in cooperation with intelligence destroyed a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber with two X-22 cruise missiles.
Russia confirmed the death of one of the pilots of the downed Tu-22M3 bomber.
