The deceased was identified as 27-year-old First Lieutenant Kendrick Lamont Kee Jr., an air defense officer. He was one of two American soldiers who fell from a cliff while hiking during off-duty hours.

Both service members were declared missing on May 2 after participating in multinational exercises in Morocco.

Search for the second service member continues

According to U.S. Army Europe and Africa, a Moroccan search team discovered the service member's body on May 9, approximately one mile from where the soldiers likely entered the ocean.

The search and rescue operation continues with the participation of more than 600 personnel from the U.S., Morocco, and other partner nations. It involves ships, frigates, helicopters, and drones.

The U.S. Department of Defense stated that the American contingent remained in Morocco after the conclusion of the exercises to coordinate the search for the second missing service member.
