Thus, the Republican Trump is ahead of Biden by 2% in the key states necessary to win the presidential election in November - 47% to 45%.
Sociologists emphasize that this is the smallest gap since the voting began last October.
Biden is currently ahead of Trump in Michigan and Wisconsin. He is within the statistical margin of error in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina, and lags behind the most in the crucial state of Pennsylvania.
Voters in key swing states believe that the incumbent performed poorly during the June 27 CNN debate. Less than one in five respondents said that Biden was more coherent, mentally sound, or dominant in the debate.
At the same time, nearly three in ten Democrats said Biden should drop out of the race, far more than the 9% of Republicans who said Trump should do the same.
