Anthropic has overtaken OpenAI to become the world's most valuable artificial intelligence startup, reaching a market capitalization of $965 billion ahead of expected initial public offerings (IPOs) of rival companies, UNN reports, citing Al Jazeera.

Anthropic, the creator of the Claude family of chatbots, announced on Thursday that it had raised $65 billion from private investors in a funding round led by Altimeter Capital, Greenoaks, Dragoneer, and Sequoia Capital.
This announcement propels Anthropic, led by CEO and co-founder Dario Amodei, into the lead in terms of valuation, ahead of ChatGPT creator OpenAI, which was valued at $852 billion in its latest funding round in March.
"This funding will help us meet unprecedented demand, stay at the forefront of research, and deploy Claude in more places where work happens," Anthropic CFO Krishna Rao said in a statement.
Altimeter Capital CEO Brad Gerstner called the adoption of Claude in the "world's most demanding organizations" a testament to Anthropic's leadership in the field.
"This momentum allows Anthropic to lead the next phase of AI innovation and capitalize on the massive opportunities ahead of us," Gerstner said.
Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers, Anthropic has quickly become one of the leading players in Silicon Valley's battle for AI dominance.
