A fraudster appropriated an apartment worth UAH 4.8 million in Obolon using forged documents. The apartment has now been seized, and the suspect has been taken into custody.
A scheme for the illegal seizure of an apartment in Obolon, Kyiv, where the prominent surgeon and academician Oleksandr Shalimov previously lived, has been uncovered. The organizer of the scheme has been notified of suspicion, and the dwelling itself has been seized. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General on Thursday, according to UNN.

According to the investigation, the apartment was provided to the academician by the city, and after his death, relatives lived there. However, the ownership of the dwelling was not properly registered.
The suspect took advantage of this by forging documents about alleged investment in the apartment during the construction phase. Based on these, in 2024, he registered ownership through a private notary, and the very next day, he sold the dwelling.
Subsequently, the apartment was resold once more – this time to a legal entity.
"Taking advantage of the fact that the ownership of the dwelling was not registered, the suspect forged documents and illegally registered the apartment in his name, after which he alienated it," the prosecutor's office reported.
According to experts, the value of the apartment is over UAH 4.8 million. It has currently been seized.
The defendant is accused of fraud and legalization of property obtained by criminal means. The court chose a pre-trial detention measure for him.
