About 42 thousand Ukrainians are listed in the register of missing persons

More than 51,000 people have been reported missing in Ukraine since the beginning of the war, and the search for about 42,000 of them is still ongoing.
Since the launch of the Unified Register of Persons Missing under Special Circumstances, information about more than 51 thousand people has been added to it. The search for approximately 42 thousand people is still ongoing.
This was reported by the head of the Department of the Office for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Bogatyuk, during a briefing, UNN reports .
In total, since the launch of the register (the Unified Register of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances - ed.), information about more than 51 thousand people who were considered missing in special circumstances has been entered into it. At the moment, this figure includes persons who are still wanted, that is, whose whereabouts and information are unknown to us - we have about 42 thousand of them at the moment
According to Bohatyuk, information on about 7,000 people has been established. This number includes about three thousand people whose whereabouts have already been determined, most of whom are released prisoners of war.
About four thousand bodies have also been identified, mostly of Ukrainian defenders who were previously reported missing. Their identification was carried out in the framework of pre-trial investigations and with the help of molecular genetic examinations.

Since the beginning of the year, the hotline of the Ombudsman for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances has received over 12,000 calls, with operators handling almost 100 calls per day on average.
