A pre-trial restraint has been imposed on one of the Ministry of Defense's suppliers who was detained for taking a half-million dollar bribe

A measure of restraint has been imposed on a Lviv businessman and supplier to the Defense Ministry who was detained for bribing a SBI official in the amount of $500,000.
The court imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention on a Lviv businessman, one of the largest suppliers to the Ministry of Defense, who offered a bribe to one of the SBI's heads. UNN reports this with reference to the Bureau's press service.
Based on the SBI materials, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv imposed a custodial measure of restraint on the Lviv businessman. The suspect may also be released on bail in the amount of UAH 429 million 440 thousand by a court decision

SBI officers detained a Lviv businessman while he was trying to bribe one of the heads of the SBI Main Investigation Department with $500,000. The latter offered the bribe for assistance in returning property seized from companies under his control in the course of a criminal investigation.
As noted, the SBI opened a criminal investigation several months ago into fraudulent procurement of clothing and underwear for the Armed Forces. The Lviv businessman's companies won 23 tenders to supply the Defense Ministry with clothing worth more than UAH 1.5 billion. However, many of the contracts were not fulfilled, and some were not in full or at inflated prices.
According to preliminary estimates, the amount of losses could reach more than UAH 1 billion.

The businessman was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (offering, promising or giving an unlawful benefit to an official). The sanction of the article provides for punishment by imprisonment for up to eight years.
