A man who attempted to rape a woman has been detained in Kyiv

In the Dnipro district of the capital, a 38-year-old man attacked a Kyiv resident near a water pump room. The perpetrator, who suffers from mental disorders, was detained and placed in a medical facility.

Law enforcement officers detained a man who attempted to rape a woman in the capital's Dnipro district. During the investigation, the attacker will be held in a specialized medical facility. This was reported by the Kyiv police, according to UNN.
The perpetrator followed the Kyiv resident in the evening as she went to a water pump room, attacked her, and attempted to commit sexual violence. The victim managed to break free and escape
A Kyiv resident contacted the Dnipro Police Department and reported that an unknown man had attacked her and attempted to rape her. An investigative-operational group of the territorial police department and a patrol police crew immediately arrived at the scene.
Speaking with law enforcement, the victim said that in the evening she left her home to collect water at a nearby pump room. At one point, the woman felt an unknown man approach her from behind, cover her mouth with his hand, and, after tearing her clothes, attempt to rape her. However, she managed to break free and run away from the perpetrator.
Police detained the 38-year-old attacker near the crime scene in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. It was established that the man has mental health disorders, and therefore, a preventive measure in the form of placement in a medical facility was applied to him under a special procedure.
During the investigation, a comprehensive psychological and psychiatric examination was ordered to determine the suspect's sanity.
Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 15 and Part 1 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – attempted rape.
