Ukrainian peninsula
Crimea (Autonomous Republic of Crimea) is an autonomous administrative-territorial unit of Ukraine, occupying most of the Crimean Peninsula, which is washed by the waters of the Black and Azov Seas, and borders the Kherson region to the north. The administrative center is the city of Simferopol. The territory of the peninsula is 26.1 thousand km², and its population in 2014 was estimated at 1957.8 thousand people.
