In occupied Crimea, Russians have canceled nighttime passenger train services

The occupation authorities of Crimea have halted passenger train traffic during nighttime. The new restrictions came into effect on June 10. This was reported by the Moscow-appointed head of the occupied peninsula, Sergey Aksyonov, as reported by the BBC, according to UNN.

Details

According to him, eight pairs of trains on ten routes will now run only during daylight hours – from 05:00 to 23:00. Another six pairs of trains, which were scheduled to arrive in Crimea at night, will terminate their routes at the Kerch-Yuzhna station.

Passengers arriving in Kerch will be further transported by buses. A similar scheme is planned for trips from Simferopol, Dzhankoi, and Vladyslavivka to Kerch. At the same time, suburban train traffic will remain unchanged.

No explanation provided

The occupation administration has not officially explained the reasons for introducing the new restrictions. However, the decision was made following reports of a Ukrainian drone strike on passenger train No. 68 traveling from Moscow to Simferopol.

Following the attack, passenger train traffic in the territory of occupied Crimea was temporarily suspended. The new measures effectively restrict rail communication with the peninsula during nighttime.
