President Zelenskyy called on all levels of government in Ukraine to start preparing for the next heating season now, emphasizing the need for a coordinated response to Russian attacks on the energy system and the importance of developing decentralized generation.
Preparations for the next heating season should begin at all levels in Ukraine right now. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, an UNN correspondent reports.
"Each of you sees that Russian terrorists are trying to knock us out of existence every day, to knock out our energy system. This is a very serious challenge that we all have to respond to together. A powerful response. Of course, the first priority is air defense systems and the supply of all the necessary energy equipment. This is what we do every day, all branches of government..." Zelensky said.
The President emphasized that preparations for the next heating season should begin now.
"Now every community should have a very clear understanding of what is needed for support. We have to start preparing for the next heating season at all levels right now. All communities, government officials, and our respective energy companies should prepare. Interaction should be maximized, and I ask government officials to pay all the necessary attention to the needs of communities. And communities should be very active. This is the stage of the war. We must be a very active team," Zelensky said.
In addition, he noted that decentralized generation needs to be properly developed.
"And we are not just talking about it. It needs to be implemented very quickly both at the local and national levels," Zelensky said.
