The president of Ukraine commented on the telephone conversation between the German Chancellor and Putin. Zelensky explained why such contacts can open a "Pandora's box" in an attempt to end the war.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the call of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin did not surprise him. According to the President, politicians of partner countries want to be leaders in ending the war, but they understand that Putin considers Ukraine part of Russia and no one during this war could change his mind. Zelensky stated this in an interview with Sky News, reports UNN.

"I spoke with the chancellor on the phone, yes, and of course we need to meet in person. They help us (Germany - ed.), this is one of the biggest supports that we receive, including military support. But I told him... I was not surprised that he communicated with Putin, he wants (Scholz - ed.) to understand what Putin is thinking. I told him that I do not support such an idea because it will open a Pandora's box, because there are people who want to be leaders in this matter, they want to remain political leaders, they want to be on the front pages of newspapers," Zelensky said.

He noted that the leaders of the countries should understand that Putin "considers Ukraine part of Russia and no one during this war could change his mind.

"He believes that the people who live here are his people and that is why he treats us as an enemy. He believes that this is part of Russia, he wants to destroy everything Ukrainian that is connected with Ukraine and Ukrainians in Ukraine. He has exactly this terrible idea, Hitler's idea. That's why he opens this Pandora's box, because then other leaders will talk to him to get on the pages of newspapers. They say we can handle Putin, but you can't really handle a hitman if you're weak. For him, you are nothing, he respects only strength," Zelensky added.
