The President spoke about the slow advance of Russians in the east due to delays in equipping brigades with weapons and training. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of rotation and the priority of saving the lives of the military.

In eastern Ukraine, there is a slow, but nevertheless, pressure and advance of the Russians. This is due to the slow equipping of brigades with weapons and training of the military. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Suspilne on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian Radio, UNN reports.

Zelenskyy commented on the statements of Ukrainian and foreign analysts about the sad figures that Russians occupied a record amount of territory in October and answered why this was possible.

The situation in the east is really complicated. There is a slow, but nevertheless, pressure and advance of the Russians. For various reasons: filling our brigades with trained people, filling and equipping the brigades with weapons - all these processes have been quite slow. You can't just fill a brigade with people if it is waiting for certain weapons. We were waiting for some weapons to be delivered for 12 months from the moment they were approved by the Congress

- Zelensky said.

The President noted that there are brigades in the east where the guys have been fighting for a long time.

"The teams are very strong. They need to be rotated. Other teams should take their places. Imagine if they are not staffed. Just throw them away like meat? Like "Russians"? No one wants to do that. So the guys get tired and leave. Because they are shooting with KABs, bombing. Everything around them is being destroyed. They ask if they can take steps back, and the military leadership says yes: "Yes". Because this is our common position: first of all, a person, and then the land," Zelensky assured.

He noted that people need to be sure that the rotation is going on, that there is another brigade behind them, armed and ready to attack.

"And then the Russians will be in the position we are in in the east. This is what is really happening," the President said.

"We talked about the number of brigades, but their filling and staffing is very slow. We have been filling this gap with domestic production, but not all of it," Zelensky said.
