A spokesman for the British Prime Minister's Office, Keir Starmer, said: "We are shocked by the scenes at President Trump's rally in Pennsylvania. We strongly condemn all forms of political violence and send our best wishes to President Trump and his family at this time.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on the social network X that he was "disgusted" by the shooting. "This cannot be overstated - political violence is never acceptable. My thoughts are with former President Trump, the participants of the event and all Americans," Trudeau said.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the incident "disturbing and worrying".
"There is no place for violence in the democratic process. I am glad to hear reports that former President Trump is now safe," Albanese wrote in a message on X.
