Vilnius extends free travel for Ukrainians for another year

The Vilnius City Council has unanimously approved a decision on free travel for Ukrainian refugees on public transport until 2026. Such support has been in effect since March 2022 after the Russian invasion.

In Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, Ukrainian refugees will be able to travel free of charge on public transport until 2026. This is reported by LRT, reports UNN.

It is noted that this decision was unanimously approved by the Metropolitan City Council on Wednesday, November 27.

According to LRT, refugees from the war from Ukraine can use public transport free of charge from March 2022. This decision was made by the authorities of the capital after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, when tens of thousands of Ukrainian residents arrived in Lithuania. Other major cities in Lithuania have made similar decisions.

Recall

The Lithuanian government has allocated almost 9 million euros to help Ukrainian refugees. The funds will be used for children's payments, social assistance to schoolchildren, partial coverage of heating, water and rental costs.
