Ukrzaliznytsia has built a new grain car that can operate on both Ukrainian and European gauges to increase exports by reducing logistics costs and optimizing international rail transportation. The car has a carrying capacity of 70 tons, a volume of 104 cubic meters and is designed for speeds of up to 120 km/h.

Ukrzaliznytsia has built a grain carrier at its own facilities that is optimally adapted for transportation on both Ukrainian and European gauges, i.e. European gauges, i.e. it can transport on both 1520 mm and 1435 mm. This is stated in the company's announcement, UNN reports.

Details

The new hopper car model 19-8005-U is designed for the transportation of grain and other bulk foodstuffs. Most of the components and of its components and materials are domestically produced.

The design of the car takes into account the requirements for the transportation of agricultural products, and its technical characteristics ensure the optimal ratio of volume to weight.

Due to the strike of Polish carriers, Ukrzaliznytsia will transport Ukrainian trucks across the border by a special train

In addition, since the new grain car meets the requirements applicable to the infrastructure of the European Union, its use will reduce the cost of logistics and simplify the procedure for coordinating of international rail transportation. The car has:

  • a payload of 70 tons;
  • a body volume of 104 cubic meters;
  • a 02-VM size;
  • five loading hatches and six unloading hatches;
  • its design speed is 120 km/h.

To increase exports, we must not only build the border infrastructure, but also to update the quantitative and qualitative rolling stock. For the first time in the history of Ukraine, a grain carrier was manufactured at the production UZ's production facilities, which is maximally adapted for cargo transportation on the territory of Ukraine and the 1435 mm gauge of the EU countries. In the future, we plan to to be put into mass production
