Ukraine has captured mercenaries from Somalia, Sierra Leone, Cuba, and Nepal, and a significant number of Indian citizens are fighting on the side of Russia, according to a Ukrainian official.

Citizens of Somalia, Sierra Leone, Cuba and Nepal are in Ukrainian captivity, said Petro Yatsenko, a representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, reports UNN correspondent .

According to him, all these mercenaries are just a sample, because tomorrow citizens of other countries may be captured. He also added that there are a significant number of Indian citizens on the frontline on the part of Russia.

We are interested in keeping these citizens away from the frontline. So that they do not have a chance to kill or injure a Ukrainian citizen, both civilian and military

He also added that if the governments of these countries are interested in returning their citizens, Ukraine will look for ways to negotiate their release. As a reminder, the UN Commission of Inquiry found new evidenceof widespread human rights violations and war crimes by Russian forces in Ukraine, including indiscriminate attacks on civilians, torture, rape and the illegal removal of children.
