Rubio began by thanking Sweden for hosting the ministerial meeting, but that is where "all the niceties end," the publication writes, as the upcoming summit in Ankara will be "one of the most important summits of leaders in NATO history," because leaders will have to address Trump's "frustration" with "the alliance's response to our operations in the Middle East."
"This issue will have to be resolved; this issue will not be resolved or considered today. This is an issue that the leaders must discuss," Rubio stated.
He pointed to the US statement regarding Poland but added that "the United States continues to have global obligations that it must fulfill regarding the deployment of our forces, and this constantly requires us to review where we station troops."

"This is not a punishment; it is simply something that is ongoing, and it existed before," Rubio said.
He also indicated that there are many opportunities for cooperation with NATO in the field of the defense-industrial base.
