The Trump administration is considering redeploying forces from countries that have not supported the US and Israel. The plan involves closing bases in Germany or Spain.

The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering a plan to punish some NATO alliance members who, according to the White House chief, did not help the US and Israel during the war in Iran. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed Trump administration officials, UNN reports.

It is noted that the proposal involves withdrawing American troops from member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization that are considered "unhelpful to the military efforts in Iran" and deploying them in countries that are more supportive of the US military campaign.
This proposal would be far from recent threats by President Trump to withdraw the US entirely from the alliance, which he legally cannot do without Congress.
The publication notes that the plan may also include closing an American base in at least one European country - probably Spain or Germany.
Context
US President Donald Trump stated that the Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin is not afraid of NATO at all, as the Alliance is a "paper tiger."
Recent US complaints about NATO allies and threats to withdraw from the alliance are prompting European countries to seek alternative security mechanisms, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares said on Tuesday.
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev stated that he does not believe in a real US withdrawal from NATO after Donald Trump's corresponding threats.
