It is considered one of the worst airports in the world. We will make it, perhaps, the best
According to the U.S. president, the project involves creating over 5 million square feet of new or renovated space, replacing terminals C and D, building a new parking garage near the main terminal, glass pedestrian bridges, and one of the world's largest United Polaris lounges. At the same time, the historic main terminal, designed by architect Eero Saarinen, will be preserved.

It also plans to abandon the mobile transport vehicles that have been used for many years to transport passengers between terminals and expand the underground train system.
How the project will be funded
The U.S. Department of Transportation reported that funding will be provided by the Washington Airports Authority in partnership with airlines, including United Airlines, through the issuance of municipal bonds. Some work is already being carried out under the current $7 billion airport modernization program.
Trump expressed hope that the reconstruction could be completed in about two years, although some stages may require congressional approval.
