Three fatal accidents involving pedestrians occurred in Kyiv yesterday. Two of the deceased were crossing the road on unregulated crosswalks, and one was crossing in the wrong place. Criminal proceedings have been initiated over all the incidents.

On August 6, three pedestrians were killed in an accident in the capital: two were hit by cars on unregulated crosswalks, and one was crossing the road in the wrong place. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, according to UNN

According to the prosecutor's office, in the Darnytsia district, the driver of a Toyota Auris, moving down Trostyanetska Street, hit a 64-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the roadway on an unregulated pedestrian crossing. As a result of the collision, the pedestrian was injured and died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

 In Holosiivskyi district, the driver of a Renault Grand Scenic, moving along Stolychne Highway in the direction of the Vydubychi metro station, hit a 34-year-old pedestrian as he crossed the roadway in a place not allowed for pedestrian traffic. The pedestrian was thrown into the neighboring lane, where he was run over by another car. The pedestrian reportedly sustained injuries as a result of the accident and died on the spot.

 In addition, in the Shevchenkivskyi district, the driver of an Audi A5, moving along Shcherbakovskoho Street, hit a 75-year-old woman who was crossing the roadway on an unregulated pedestrian crossing. The woman died on the spot from her injuries.

Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, criminal proceedings were initiated over all three accidents under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of traffic safety rules that caused the victim's death.
